Simple Repairs for Everyday Computer Errors
One common error people with older machines might find themselves encountering is ''Virtual Memory Low''. What this is suggesting is that your PC is currently using most, if not all of its available physical memory. To alleviate this, first we should attempt to cut down on the items that load with startup. Click Start, Run, and type in MSCONFIG. This will bring up a window with many tabs along the top. We are only concerned with the Startup tab at this point. Click that tab and you''ll see a list of everything that demands memory upon startup. Brief descriptions are provided for each entry. Generally you can stop most items except for security software and some peripherals items (for mice, keyboards, cameras, etc). Once you''ve edited this list, restart your PC. You may very well have solved the problem there. A more long term method to fix this is to simply add more RAM. Consult your manual to find the style and max amount supported by your PC. Adding RAM will allow you more leeway in loading programs on startup as well as more slack when running multiple items. These two simple steps can do wonders when you''re suffering from ''Virtual Memory Low''!
