Computer errors can cause dangerous conditions for any major airline. In this day and age, computers have taken over the duties and responsibilities that humans use to handle. Any oversight by a computer could be disastrous. Imagine if a large system crashed? The airports would become frozen due to the fact that all airlines now rely on computers. Air Traffic Controllers are still needed to continuously monitor the arrivals and departures of aircrafts; however this is all done with the aid of computers. I do believe that there are fail safe systems in place to prevent any major catastrophe. Remember the buzz over Y2K? The rumor was that air travel would be dangerous if the systems crashed, however nothing happened.
